Things to Consider When Replacing a Catalytic Converter and Particulate Filter
Before Replacement
The source of the fault must be identified, and replacement should not be made until the root cause of the catalytic converter or particulate filter failure has been resolved (e.g., burning engine oil, incorrect fuel, sensor error, etc.).
The injectors, turbocharger, differential pressure sensor and pipes, exhaust pipes and clamps should be checked for possible leaks. The exhaust line, EGR valve, and sensor connections should be carefully inspected. Sensors should be checked (temperature, oxygen, pressure), and cleaned if necessary.
After Replacement
The vehicle's software must be original. Error codes must be cleared and adaptation must be performed. Sensors must be checked for proper operation.
Engine performance and emissions should be tested. Pressure and temperature values should be measured and verified to be within normal limits. The system should be maintained with quality fuel and regular maintenance (oil, filter).
